There are many essential oils that are wonderful for use with a healthy skin care routine. Frankincense and myrrh are two of my favorites. I often add a few drops of frankincense and myrrh to lotion to make it more rejuvenating for my skin.

I love adding essential oils to my skin care routine to really support healthy skin. When I have the occasional pimple I put frankincense on it. I am always amazed how quickly it works.

Try adding 10 drops of Young Living frankincense to the Sandalwood Moisture Cream for an awesome facial cream.

One of my favorite products for skin is Young Living’s Animal Scents Ointment. I use it all the time on my face, hands and anywhere else on my body I feel inclined. It leaves my skin soft and supple. It’s not just for animals. It also has myrrh and several other oils that are great for skin.

Essential Oils are why the ART Skin Care system is so powerful. ART has the essential oils of frankincense, sandalwood, melissa, and chamomile generates a quantum leap in the care and protection of the largest of our organs – our skin.

Young Living has several skin care products with frankincense and other essential oils.

Citrus oils are among my favorite oils. They smell so good and they are very mood uplifting. Any of the citrus oils are great for diffusing. They clean and deodorize the air while also lifting the mood.

Caution: Citrus oils are photosensitizing, so avoid applying to skin that will be exposed to direct sunlight or UV light.

Lemon Oil has immune supporting properties. It is purifying and uplifting. I often use lemon oil to clean my hands when in public places.

Lemon Oil has been widely used in skin care to cleanse skin and reduce wrinkles and those occasional pimples we all get every now and then.

Orange Oil is known as a “happy” oil, nurturing feelings of joy and peace. Because of its ability to help support the body’s normal cellular repair processes, orange essential oil makes an uplifting, complexion-brightening addition to any skin-care regimen, while its uplifting, citrus scent can aid relaxation and help lift occasional feelings of crankiness.

Grapefruit Oil is a great complement to any weight management plan. A key ingredient in our new Slique blend, grapefruit has an uplifting scent shown to help create feelings of satiety, support metabolism, and cleanse the body.

Tangerine Oil contains esters and aldehydes that are sedating and calming.

Try tangerine and lavender together to relax before bed time and get a good night’s sleep. Rub them on your feet or take a few drops each in capsule.

Or … Add a couple drops tangerine and lavender to chamomile tea.

The citrus oils are amazing! They neutralize acid in your body and balance Ph and they are just awesome for supporting your healthy immune system.

Citrus oils are wonderful to use in cleaning. Make a spray bottle of water with 15-25 drops of lemon oil to clean in bathroom or on kitchen surfaces.

Did you know that citrus oils have very high levels of limonene? Limonene is one of the highest antioxidants, it protects our cells and is a wonderful support for healthy body systems. Of course, we are talking about therapeutic grade essential oils that have been processed correctly and aren’t adulterated.

Carrier oils are used to dilute essential oils prior to application. They carry the essential oils further into the tissue or help hold the essential oil topically. Carrier oils vary in thickness. Tired and overworked muscles respond best when the essential oils penetrate deep into the tissue. For this application, choose a lighter viscosity carrier oil.

If applying to someone with sensitive skin, use a medium viscosity carrier oil to slow down the rate of absorption.

The really thick oils can be used as a barrier.

Carrier oils from Light Viscosity to Barrier:

Sunflower Oil
Fractionated Coconut Oil
Sweet Almond Oil
Young Living V-6 Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex
Red Raspberry Seed Oil
Grapeseed Oil
Jojoba Oil
Olive Oil
Avocado Oil
Balms and Salves – Coco Butter, Shea Butter Coconut Oil.

Five Easy Steps to Blending Essential Oils

Decide on the purpose or reason that you’re creating the blend.
Choose the application method – bath, diffusion, compress, massage etc.
If necessary get the supplies you need (like V-6 Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex or diffuser etc.)

Select 3 – 5 essential oils that will work together to accomplish your purpose.

Choose the dosage or concentration level of the oils you need – for the method you want.

Carrier Volume 1% EO 2% EO 4% EO
1/2 Ounce (1 TBS) 3 Drops 6 Drops 12 Drops
1 Ounce (2 TBS) 6 Drops 12 Drops 24 Drops

1% is great for kids and the elderly
2% is great for all over body lotion type application
4% is great for concentrated area of massage

Add the oils to your carrier oil or lotion or to your bath (usually 8 – 10 drops) or whatever method you chose – and enjoy!

Other things to remember:

• Only add 1 oil to a “ready made blend”.
• Use only 3 – 5 oils to make your own blend.
• Blend just one drop at a time. One drop can make a big difference.
• Write down what you do – so you avoid making mistakes twice and also so that you can recreate what you like.
• Blend in small quantities so that you don’t have a big batch of something you hate. Once your blend is perfected
you may go ahead and make larger quantities.
• Mix your oils in a glass container.
• Have FUN! Let imagination and your nose guide you.
