lemonLemon oil is a favorite among Young Living Distributors. Citrus oils are extracted by cold pressing the rind of the fruit. It takes about 75 lemons to make one 15-ml bottle of Lemon essential oil

Lemon oil is known to have powerful cleaning properties which make it wonderful for use in your home, particularly the kitchen and bathroom. I often add a few drops of lemon oil to cleaning solutions for extra cleaning properties. Mix a drop in a teaspoon of water & wipe the kitchen counter and cutting boards. It makes the kitchen smell fresh too.

Add lemon oil to a spray bottle of water and spray surfaces in the bathroom and anywhere else you want to clean or deodorize. It also sanitizes the bathroom fixtures. It is great for diffusing to purify and deodorize the air. If you don’t have a cold diffuser, add a few drops of oil in a spray mister bottle with water and mist the air.

Using 1-2 drops of Lemon oil works well in removing gum, oil and grease spots.

Fill balance of bottle with water and essential oil.
Shake & Use.

Garbage Disposals: A great way to freshen you garbage disposal is to put your lemon or orange peels in it.
Or, use a few drops of citrus oils! About five drops of orange or lemon makes the garbage disposal smell great!

A few drops of oil may be added to the dishwasher to help clean and purify. Some popular oils besides lemon are pine, orange, tangerine, and peppermint.

To clean hard floors, add 1/4 cup of white vinegar to a bucket of water. Then add 5-10 drops of lemon and pine.
If the floor is especially dirty, add Thieves Cleaner. This will clean even the dirtiest floor.

Carry lemon essential oil to clean your hands when in public places. Use a drop of lemon to disinfect your hands after using public restrooms. Also remember to use lemon to clean hands after touching door knobs, shopping cart handles and other surfaces in public areas.

Lemon oil has a high limonene content of between 54-72%, which is excellent for supporting a healthy immune system.

Use lemon oil to clean minor cuts and scrapes.

Mix 1 drop lemon in half glass of warm water. Mix well then gargle.

Put a couple of drops of lemon oil in your drinking water to purify the water. It also tastes great.

To clean and increase the shelf life of fresh fruit, fill a bowl with cool water and 2-3 drops of Lemon oil. Drop your cleaned fruit into the water and stir. Be sure all surfaces of the fruit contact the lemon water.

Lemon oil cleans the skin. It may also help brighten a pale, dull complexion by removing the dead skin cells.

Works well in removing gum, wood stain, oil, and Grease spots.

Caution:
Citrus oils are photosensitizing, so avoid applying to skin that will be exposed to direct sunlight or UV light.

Experiences With Lemon Oil:

I love using Lemon Oil on the vinyl floor in the bathroom it takes all the scuff marks off with no effort. I use Lemon Oil to clean everything in the bathroom, and then I run some very hot water in the sink, put the stopper in the drain and plop a few drops of Peppermint Oil in the water. I swish it around, and the aroma fills the room, I let the water run out of the sink and the next few times that people wash their hands, and run hot water into the sink, it smells great! — Deirdre

I thought that lemon might do the trick given something that happened recently that I’ve been meaning to post.

We have a Wok that we use pretty regularly. One night a few months ago, the person who was supposed to do dishes (not me..lol) decided to let the dishes sit till the next morning. We awoke to find the Wok basically unusable since the oil had hardened to a point that no amount of scrubbing would get it off. I’m sure all you cooks know of what I speak.

We tried many times…soaking and scrubbing and nothing worked.

Last week…we used the Wok the way it was and I was cleaning it. As per usual, I add a couple drops of lemon oil to my dish water and noticed something odd happening to the Wok. So I added a couple more drops of Lemon oil to the Wok to be sure.

AND…without putting any muscle into it…the hardened oil had started coming off. I kept scrubbing and wiping and it all came off in a few minutes. I was amazed and glad I didn’t have to buy a new Wok!! — Lauren

Got another one for using Lemon oil also. After reading Peggy’s testimony about removing the double sticky tape it reminded me of it. My youngest son had fallen asleep with gum in his mouth. Anyway, the next morning it was in his hair… There were about 3 good spots that it was really a mess. I snipped out a little of it with scissors and then got out my Lemon oil. Put a drop on my fingers and rubbed them together with the gummy hair between them. WOW! Came right out! Didn’t take a whole lot either. I’ve also used Lemon oil to remove gum from clothes. Wish Lemon oil came in BULK size!! LOL!! — Lori

This year two new products made with Einkorn were released at Young Living Convention. Einkorn is the original “staff of life” grain. It is the oldest variety of wheat.

Most of the wheat that is used today is a hybrid. Hybridization is a modern way of combining two kinds of seed species to engineer a new plant. It is man’s way of changing what God created into something bigger and better, or so they think.  Hybridization can happen naturally when plants are near each other and the wind blows and cross pollinates. That is not what we are talking about with the modern hybrid wheat. Modern wheat was engineered to have shorter stalks to create less waste and fuller heads of grain to produce more product, thus more profits.  Doesn’t it always come down to the almighty dollar?

The problem with the hybrid wheat is that it has been engineered to contain 3 genomes and 42 chromosomes while einkorn wheat has 14 chromosomes. Those extra chromosomes create new proteins that man was never intended to consume. They are foreign to the body and cause confusion in the digestive system.  This wheat is a major contributor to obesity and other modern ailments.

    1. It contains a Super Starch – amylopectin A that is super fattening.

    2. It contains a form of Super Gluten that is super inflammatory.

    3. It contains a Super Drug that is highly addictive and makes you crave and eat more.

In Wheat Belly, Dr. Davis explains that 5 percent of wheat proteins of a hybrid from two parent species are unique, not found in either parent.

Dr. Davis told CBS This Morning: “There’s a new protein in this thing called gliadin. It’s not gluten. I’m not talking about people with gluten sensitivities and celiac disease. I am talking about everyone else. This thing, gliadin, binds into the opiate receptors in your brain and in most people stimulates appetite such that we consume 440 more calories, 365 days per year.” ref 1

It actually makes us more hungry for starches and carby foods.

At the time of this writing we have two new products from Young Living made with Einkorn. I’m sure others will be coming soon.

smoothieSmoothies are a great way to get more veggies into your diet. Let’s face it. In this fast paced lifestyle, most of us don’t get enough vegetables in our diet. Smoothies can help. especially if you have family members who don’t love their vegetables. Add fruit and it’s a flavorful way to enjoy more vegetables. Try some of these smoothie recipes.

Ginger Protein Smoothie

2 handfuls of spinach or kale
5 stalks of raw asparagus
ginger root – I like my smoothie very strong in ginger so I add a piece about 3 inches long.
1/2 banana
1 cup whatever fruit I have on hand
2 scoops Young Living Pure Protein Complete
1 tbsp flax seeds
1-4 ounces NingXia Red
1 cup water
4 drops tangerine or other essential oil – Slique Essence is AWESOME in smoothies!

Directions: Combine ingredients in blender or NutriBullet. Fill liquid to the line. Blend until you reach the desired consistency. I like to freeze peeled bananas so they are like banana ice cubes. I cut them in half and put them in ziploc bags.

Blueberry Almond Smoothie
2 handfuls spinach or kale
1 cup blueberries
1/2 banana
2 scoops Young Living Pure Protein Complete
10 almonds
optional: ginger root – I LOVE ginger root in almost all smoothies. I can’t get enough of it! 🙂

Directions: Combine ingredients in blender or NutriBullet. Fill liquid to the line. Blend until you reach the desired consistency.

NingXia Peach Smoothie

1/2 c. frozen peaches
1/2 c. frozen strawberries or blueberries
2 scoops Young Living Pure Protein Complete
4 ounces NingXia Red
Water (whatever amount to the line on your NutriBullet cup)
4 drops Orange or Tangerine essential oil

Place ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. In NutriBullet, fill liquid to the line. Frozen fruit gives the smoothie a cold, thick consistency but can be replaced with fresh fruit. Makes one serving.
