Have you used essential oils in the laundry?

Ditch the toxic dryer sheets and switch them for something natural and chemical free! Wool dryer balls dry and soften your clothes faster, without using chemically loaded dryer sheets or fabric softener.

Did you know that dryer sheets are loaded with toxic chemicals? Sure they make your clothes smell nice but that scent is actually synthetic and could contain up to 200 different chemicals. Dryer sheets have been linked to asthma, allergies and even respiratory issues and skin problems. Not to mention, the ingredients found in chemical softeners and dryer sheets are not environmentally friendly and can be quite harmful.

Dryer Balls with Essential Oils
You will LOVE the toxic free way wool dryer balls will fluff your clothes and you can use them to infuse your laundry with essential oils!

To help with static, use white vinegar and 2 metal safety pins.

Using white vinegar in the dryer is great trick for eliminating static. You can simply spray a clean washcloth, sock, pre-cut piece of cloth, or dryer balls with vinegar and a few drops of Tea Tree, Lavender, Lemon, Bergamot, or other essential oils. This item is then tossed into the dryer with everything else.

You can also pour about 1/4 c. of white vinegar into the fabric softener dispenser on your washing machine. You can’t smell the vinegar.

Another trick to help cut down on static is to pin two safety pins on two different items in the dryer. I have seen people attach the safety pins to 2 of the wool dryer balls.

If you are like me and are looking for healthier options to satisfy an occasional craving for something sweet, you may want to try recipes sweetened with dates. I have made Date Truffles before. Oh how YUMMY!

If you have been following me for any length of time you know that I try to keep away from sugar and other things that increase inflammation and pain. Processed sugar is an ingredient I always regret indulging in. Confession time: I occasionally give in to the nasty temptation. About once a year I want jelly beans. I LOVE the black licorice ones. 😉

Thankfully there are lots of great, healthy ingredients to give you healthier options. Dates are a little carby but they are a FAR healthier option than sugar. They are also a great source of iron, potassium, and B-vitamins.

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I did.

Fudgy Sugar Free No-Bake Brownies With Peppermint Essential Oil

Ingredients
2 1/2 cups pitted dates
1 1/2 cups cup almonds
6 tbsp cocoa powder
1 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
2 tsp water
1/4 tsp salt
2 or 3 drops Young Living Peppermint Vitality Essential Oil

Directions
Combine the dates, almonds, cocoa, vanilla, water, peppermint essential oil and salt in a food processor. Process until smooth, scraping down as needed. It will seem dry at first. Don’t add any extra water.

Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment or wax paper. Transfer dough to pan and press very firmly until dough is evenly distributed in the pan.

Refrigerate brownies for at least 2 hours. Store covered in the fridge. I store mine in the freezer and pull out whatever I need for a day.

Potato Salad has always been one of my favorite side dishes. Not just a summertime favorite but all year. I love potatoes of any kind but they are a bit carby so whenever I am trying to lose weight, potatoes are not such a great idea. As I get older, low carb/keto is a means to manage pain and inflammation.

I really enjoy cauliflower in stir fry but when I tried it as a replacement for potatoes I wasn’t all that impressed. It had the cauliflower taste which was kind of disappointing. Well, all that changed when I got a great tip from George Stella. He said to cook the cauliflower in water instead of steaming to get a more potato like flavor. I tried that and all I can say is WOW! That made a world of difference.

Anyway, Here’s my recipe. It’s spicy. If you prefer the not so spicy, leave the hot peppers out. 😉

Spicy Vitality Mock Potato Salad

1 large head cauliflower, cleaned
5 hard-boiled large eggs, chopped
2 stalks celery, finely diced
1/3 cup onion, finely diced
1/4 cup pickled jalapenos, chopped
1/4 cup red peppers, chopped
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1 TBS yellow mustard
1 tsp salt teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 drops Dill Vitality Essential Oil

Garnish with cilantro or parsley.

Boil a large pot of water over high heat. Chop cauliflower into small pieces.
Cook the cauliflower pieces in the boiling water for about 5 minutes, until tender.
Drain cauliflower and rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process. Let the cauliflower sit in the strainer a bit to drain and dry.

Place the cauliflower in a bowl with all of the remaining ingredients. Mix. Place in the refrigerator for a couple hours before serving. I like making it the day before. The flavors meld nicely.

Eucalyptus oil comes from trees, usually from Australia but Young Living also growing Eucalyptus in Ecuador. Young Living carries three types of Eucalyptus: Eucalyptus Blue, Eucalyptus globulus and Eucalyptus radiata.

The scent of Eucalyptus is familiar to anyone that has consumed cough drops. Most Eucalyptus species support healthy respiratory system. You can inhale the eucalyptus oil and apply it to the chest. You will likely want to dilute with a carrier oil. Sometimes I layer the oils, putting a couple drops of the oil on location, then layer the carrier oil
over it as a dilution method. This is useful when using oils that “heat up” a bit in sensitive skin areas on the body.

You can also put some boiling water in a bowl, then add a couple drops Eucalyptus oil to the water. Put a towel over your head to create a tent, then lower your head over the water and inhale the vapors.

Following is a little information on the Eucalyptus oils and what they can do.

Eucalyptus Blue: This oil has a fresh, invigorating aroma that supports normal breathing and soothes tense muscles when applied topically. This essential oil is grown and harvested at the Young Living Farm in Ecuador and is an important ingredient in the Breathe Again Roll On.

Some of the Eucalyptus Blue features include:

High levels of the powerful constituent eucalyptol 56.2% (also known as 1.8-cineol) and eugenol.
High in limonene 6% – normally no limonene in eucalyptus

Eucalyptus Blue is a key ingredient in the new Breathe Again Roll-On

Supports respiratory function when diffused.

Eucalyptus Blue also helps soothe muscle tension when applied topically, and relaxes the body after exercise.

How to use: Topical: Dilute one drop with one drop of V-6 or olive oil. Then apply to desired area as needed. Aromatic: Diffuse up to 30 minutes three times daily.

Rosemary and eucalyptus oils can be used in a saline solution for a very effective nasal irrigation.
10 drops rosemary
6 drops Eucalyptus Blue
8 tbs very fine salt.
The essential oils are mixed thoroughly in the fine salt and kept in a container. For each nasal irrigation session, use
1 teaspoon of this salt mixture dissolved into 1 1/2 cups distilled water. This oils/salt/water solution is then placed in the tank of an oral irrigator to irrigate the nasal cavities, which is done while bending over a sink.

Eucalyptus globulus: Eucalyptol (1.8 cineol) occurs in high concentrations in Eucalyptus globulus and other eucalyptus
species. It is responsible for the oil’s respiratory supporting effects.

How to use: Eucalyptus globulus is best applied topically or on the reflex points of the feet.

Eucalyptus radiata: Is cooling, refreshing, and energizing. Lighter in smell than Eucalyptus globulus, it has many of
the same supportive properties. Because it is relatively gentle and nonirritating, it is the preferred choice for
children. This variety is one of the most versatile of the eucalyptus oils and is suitable for topical use, diffusing,
and even direct inhalation. It has long been an ingredient in some of Young Living’s most popular blends.

These oils should be in your arsenal for supporting your healthy immune system.

A drop or two of oil can also be sprinkled on a handkerchief or tissue and inhaled directly as needed.

DIY Essential Oil Infused Tissues
Remove tissues from their box. Pour 2-3 drops of Eucalyptus radiata onto a cotton ball, and seal the cotton ball with your tissues in an airtight container for 24 hours. Remove tissues from airtight container and replace tissues in box.
Repeat as needed to refresh scent.
