You’ve got a date night planned with your sweetie and it’s going to be a romantic dinner and a little love and snuggling. Sometimes getting in the mood can be a challenge, especially when you have had a busy or stressful day. Some days you just want to curl up under a blanket and watch a movie or read a book. That’s when I like to grab a few of my favorite essential oils to get in the mood. 😉

One thing that always makes me feel sexy is fragrance. Long before I started using essential oils I loved fragrance to feel sexy. I used bath products and perfumes. Back then I didn’t know how many harsh chemicals are in most of the personal care products on the market.

I am grateful that, over 22 years ago, I learned about essential oils. They are way better for shifting the mood than those products with harsh chemicals that are known to cause headaches, rashes, sinus issues and more. Day by day these harsh chemicals of concern are undermining our health, and working against any actions we take to improve health.

Anyway …
Essential Oils to Set the Mood For Romance
When I am needing a bit of a lift I like to start with Rose essential oil. I call Rose oil the “BIG GUNS”. There is just no way you can smell this oil, and have a bad day. Young Living rose oil is nothing like anything you have ever smelled before. It is NOT the sweet smell you expect after smelling cheap oils. It has a rich, intense smell to it. It doesn’t really smell like fresh roses to me, because it is so concentrated and potent. Rose oil has the highest frequency of any measured oil – 350 megahertz, provided that it has been distilled properly and not adulterated.

One drop in a little carrier oil is wonderful. Add a drop of oil to your favorite recipes for romance.

I like to add a couple drops of Rose oil to Young Living’s Joy essential oil blend. I love that combination.

One oil that REALLY gets me going is when my husband wears Young Living’s Shutran. Just smelling it on him, OH MY!

Lady Sclareol is an oil blend that you can apply to your neck and wrists to wear as a perfume or mix with a carrier oil to add a warm sexy bath.

Ylang Ylang and Jasmine oils are two oils I like to wear as perfume and add to all kinds of romantic recipes. Both Ylang Ylang and Jasmine are very sexy smelling oils.

Ylang Ylang is steam distilled from flowers of trees grown in Ecuador and Madagascar, Ylang Ylang essential oil has a sweet, fruity aroma that is the perfect complement to any romantic or relaxing evening. Its moisturizing properties make it a key ingredient in many luxury skin and hair products. Ylang Ylang is often classified as a “heart” note in blends because it emerges just as the top notes begin to dissipate.

Help moisturize skin and enhance the appearance of healthy looking skin by adding a few drops of Ylang Ylang to your favorite skin care products.

Make a linen spray to set the mood for a romantic evening by combining 5 drops of Ylang Ylang with water and witch hazel in a glass spray bottle.

Wear Ylang Ylang calming and relaxing perfume. Apply it over your heart or on your wrists. Rub it onto your palms, cup your hands over your nose, and inhale deeply to inspire feelings of serenity and joy.

Massage it into your scalp to increase the appearance of healthy, shiny hair. Add a couple drops of Ylang Ylang to coconut oil for a deep conditioning hair treatment that will nourish your and scalp and support the appearance of healthy, shiny hair while leaving it smelling floral and sweet.

Create a spa-like experience by putting a few drops of Ylang Ylang into a hot bath to unwind after a long day.

I also like to make my own personal lubricant with a bit of coconut oil and a couple drops of Mister. I discovered that one by accident when I was out of Dragon Time Massage oil.

You could make up a personal lubricant with 1 oz of coconut oil, 5 drops of Sensation, 2 drops of Black Pepper and 2 drops of Peppermint. Sensation oil blend helps to create a romantic mood, while Black Pepper and Peppermint provide a warm/cool sensation.

Experiment with combinations to find what you personally like. Just, please don’t use petrochemical lubricants.

There are a lot of things that can disrupt a good night’s sleep. This is especially true during busy stressful times of the year. Tight schedules, rushing here and there to get things done, people are stressed out in general these days. After a busy day running around, you have tense muscles and to top it off, these stressful, busy days are the times when you may grab quick foods that aren’t the best option. All of this can interfere with a good night’s sleep.

We have all the felt the effects of sleep deprivation: that zombie-like feeling that consumes us the moment we roll out of bed. Our eyes are heavy, we can’t think straight, everything in a blur. Like mechanical robots, we go about our day not fully comprehending what is going on around us.

The negative effects of sleep deprivation are quickly becoming an alarming issue. According to a recent poll, 58 percent of adults in the US experience sleep problems several nights a week.

Sleep-deprived individuals find it hard to concentrate or feel productive during the day. Perhaps worst of all, more and more are driving drowsy. In fact, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that 100,000 of reported crashes occur as a result of drowsiness.

Getting a good night’s sleep is important for mental health and normal functioning, but it’s pertinent for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Here are some natural tips for a good night’s sleep during stressful times:

Keep your bedtime routine consistent.

Remove televisions, computers, phones, and unnecessary lighting.

Eliminate Caffeine and Sugar after 12 noon.

Add essential oils to your routine. Here are a few ideas:

Take a Lavender Bath – a few drops of Young Living St. Marie’s Lavender essential oil in your tub!

Put essential oils on your feet before you go to sleep. I keep Cedarwood and Lavender essential oils next to my bed so I can apply it before I go to sleep.

Layering the essential oils of Raindrop Technique on the bottom of your feet before bed time can be a nice support for restful sleep.

Since you end up going 6–8 hours without any liquid at all, drinking water throughout the day and before you hit the sack is essential to keeping yourself hydrated. Try adding Young Living Lavender Vitality essential oil to your water or herbal tea for a calming influence. Aim for an hour before bed, so you aren’t waking up in the middle of the night for a bathroom trip.

Young Living Sleep Essential Oils

Take Young Living SleepEssence 30-60 minutes before bed time. SleepEssence combines Lavender, Vetiver, Ruta and Valarian essential oils with melatonin to support a good night’s sleep.

Make a Relaxation Roll-On:

Mix 25 drops each of Valerian, Vetiver, Cedarwood, and Geranium essential oil in an empty 15-ml bottle, then fill it to the top with V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex or other carrier oil, then add the roller top. You can buy roller tops from Young Living. AromaGlide Roller Fitment (ITEM # 4578)

Diffuse Young Living Lavender, Stress Away, or your favorite blend of essential oils with comforting aromas as you prepare for bed. Rubbing a couple drops between your palms and brushing them over your pillow can also boost the relaxing aromas and can make jumping into a cloud of pillows and blankets feel extra luxurious.

Diffuse your favorite Valerian infused essential oil blend in the evening before retiring for bed.
Here is a diffuser blend I love:
4 drops Valerian
3 drops Lavender
3 drops Tangerine

Treat yourself to a soothing massage with Valerian essential oil after an exhausting workout or a long day at work. Valerian’s grounding aroma is also perfect for relaxing while you massage sore muscles, achy feet, or a tight neck.

Marjoram is an wonderful essential oil for relaxing muscles – and relaxing the brain. Apply 1-2 drops over the brainstem (the soft semi-circle at the base of the skull in the middle at the back) and on the temples and cup hands over nose, inhaling deeply 6-8 times.

Make a home made linen Spray by combining water and a few drops of your favorite calming essential oil in a glass spray bottle. Spray over sheets. Lavender, Peace & Calming, Tranquil are a few possibilities.

Add some relaxing oils to your nightly moisturizing routine. Combine Valerian with your favorite skin-care products for a natural yet bold scent.

Add one drop of Cedarwood and one drop of Valerian oil to a pump of body cream before applying to dry areas of the body.
Create a homemade dry-skin face serum with one drop each of Valerian, Rosemary, and Lavender, and a few drops of jojoba—or your favorite light carrier oil. Rub into your face at night to help alleviate dry skin.

Relaxing Whipped Body Butter

1 cup organic coconut oil
1 cup organic solid cocoa butter (do not use lotion)
15 drops of your favorite essential oil – Cedarwood, Lavender, Frankincense, Valarian, Tangerine, Peace & Calming, Tranquil are a few possibilities.

Warm a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, then add coconut oil and cocoa butter. Melt until completely liquefied, about 4–5 minutes.
Pour into a glass mixing bowl and place in refrigerator for 30–45 minutes to cool and just set but not harden.
Stir in essential oils.
Using an electric hand mixer, whip until firm peaks form, about 10 minutes.
Gently transfer to a seal-able jar or container. Store at room temperature to avoid melting or solidifying.

Mineral Essence is one of the supplements from Young Living Essential Oils that I have had on my monthly for over 15 years. I heard Gary Young say, “If you are constantly needing to oil up to lift your mood, you need minerals.” That month I added it to my monthly Essential Rewards – autoship order. Mineral Essence makes me feel AMAZING!
Young Living Mineral Essence

Benefits of Young Living Mineral Essence

Broad Spectrum – With 62 trace minerals, Mineral Essence is one of the most complete trace mineral supplements available.

Balanced Synergistic – Not only does Mineral Essence contain an incredibly wide spectrum of different minerals, but each mineral component is precisely proportioned in relation to the others. This is important because too much or too little of one mineral can can disrupt the body’s absorption of minerals and other nutrients.

Enhanced Bioavailability – The minerals in Mineral Essence are ionic – a chemical form which maximizes mineral absorption in the intestines. Minerals in an organic or colloidal state are not as readily assimilated. The essential oils included in Mineral Essence further enhance mineral absorption – besides providing other far-reaching benefits.

We Need Minerals

Ionic trace minerals are the most fully and quickly absorbed form of minerals available.
• Without minerals, vitamins and nutrients cannot be absorbed and assimilated by the body.
• Without them, we would lose electrolyte balance in our cells, which would contribute to premature aging.
• Minerals control the acid/alkaline balance (pH) of the tissue fluid.
• Adding minerals alone to the diet has resulted in many cases of regeneration.
• Minerals are the catalysts that make enzyme functions possible.

According to two time Nobel Prize winner Linus Pauling PhD. “You can trace every sickness, every disease, and every ailment to a mineral deficiency.” Ionic minerals are the most fully and quickly absorbed form of minerals available.

Benefits of Certain Trace Minerals

    • Calcium is essential for healthy bones and teeth, and it assists in blood clotting, muscle contraction, and nerve transmission.
    • Chromium assists in the metabolism of glucose and regulates blood sugar.
    • Cobalt promotes the formation of red blood cells.
    • Copper promotes normal red-blood cell formation and connective tissue formation. By storing and releasing iron, copper contributes to hemoglobin formation; it also contributes to central nervous system function.
    • Iodine supports a healthy thyroid and metabolism.
    • Iron is important in red blood cell formation and brain function.
    • Magnesium supports nerves and muscles and activates over 100 enzymes.
    • Molybdenum contributes to growth and development.
    • Phosphorous, together with calcium, contributes to healthy bones and teeth.
    • Potassium regulates heartbeat, fluid balance, and helps muscles contract.
    • Selenium is an essential component of a key antioxidant enzyme as well as being necessary for normal growth and development.
    • Sulfur is required for muscle protein and hair.
    • Zinc is a mineral found in every fluid, tissue, cell and organ throughout the human body with high concentrates in the brain. Inadequate intake can effect over 200 enzymes involved in digestion, metabolism, reproduction and wound healing.

Mineral Essence Ingredients

How to Use Mineral Essence

Take 5 half-droppers (1 ml each) morning and evening or as needed as a mineral supplement. May be added to 4-8 oz. of distilled/purified water or juice before drinking.

Some people don’t like the taste of Mineral Essence. I personally like the taste but even if I didn’t I would find a way to get it down. My body just loves it. I add 5 droppers in a tall glass of water and drink it down in the morning with my Sulfurzyme. All set for a wonderful day. 😉

If you find the taste of Mineral Essence unpleasant, try this idea from Lindsey Elmore:

“Minerals are critical to enzyme function, hormone production, bone building and breakdown, creating long luxurious hair and nails, and transmission of nerve signals.
There is only one caveat. It tastes disgusting. Like a weird oily, cinnamon concoction that can easily make you gag. So taking it can be a challenge. Some people put it in capsules, but it takes a lot of capsules. Some people put it on their skin, but it is super sticky. Some people just grin and bear it, but some just can’t.

Over the weekend, I heard the best tip on how to use Mineral Essence. Put it in your bath. Yep. Minerals are well absorbed across the skin, so you’ll still get the benefits of them without having to stomach the funky flavor.”

Great idea!

A really exciting thing has happened and it has caused me to have a new PASSION for Young Living’s Sulfurzyme product. I have been using it for well over 15 years for supporting healthy joints. Sulfurzyme also supports healthy hair, skin and nails but that was not my reason for using it. I just love how I feel when I support my joints.

Well, I am getting older, 59 now, and there has been a need to increase the dose. Young Living has both Sulfurzyme Capsules and also Sulfurzyme Powder. Over the past 3 years I have increased to 20 Sulfurzyme capsules a day. A couple of really cool things have happened. My hair used to be straight but since using Sulfurzyme, my hair has become curly. I used to get a perm for a bit of curl to add body to my hair but I haven’t had to get a perm in several years. These days I have been wearing my hair straight so I have to blow it out and flat iron it when I want to straighten it.

But wait, there’s more. The part that’s even more exciting is what has happened to my gray hair. It’s been disappearing! I used to get lowlights in my hair to hide the gray. I would be able to tell when it was time to get a retouch because I could see the regrowth. As a former cosmetologist, I know what regrowth looks like. My last retouch was over 3 years ago. That coincides with the time I upped my daily dose of Sulfurzyme.

I am loving Sulfurzyme for hair growth. My hair is strong and healthy and BLONDE! People often want to touch my hair and I get lots of comments on how beautiful it is. I think it has helped my skin too. Well, I am 59 and clearly showing some age but people often comment on my skin as well. My hair looks better than it did when I was in my 20s.

Over the years I have heard some great Sulfurzyme testimonials and I have had my own but now I love this added twist to a product I had already fallen in love with.

OH, and there is another benefit of using Sulfurzyme for hair. It is saving me a LOT of money in perms and hair color. Not to mention saving my body from all those harsh chemicals!

Check out my pictures below.

Wondering what makes Young Living Sulfurzyme so effective?

Sulfurzyme is an MSM supplement that helps to support normal joint health by providing building blocks for strong collagen and strong cartilage. It also helps to normalize responses and recovery time after exercise.

MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) is a natural sulfur-bearing nutrient that occurs widely in nature (found in everything from mother’s milk to fresh vegetables). MSM supplies this vital building block nutrient to your cells. Sulfur is so important for healthy hair, skin, nails, and connective tissues. In fact, it is a key building block of every single cell membrane in your body.

The key ingredient that makes Young Living Sulfurzyme so effective is the pharmaceutical-grade MSM combined with Chinese Wolfberry. With over 18 amino acids and 21 ionic minerals, the wolfberry is one of the most nutrient-dense foods known. Few people realize that in order properly metabolize the sulfur in MSM, the body requires minerals like molybdenum. When these are missing, MSM does not work as well. This is why wolfberry is so important, because it contains the necessary minerals for optimal absorption of MSM. These ingredients make Sulfurzyme a great support to the immune system and also almost every major body function, and forestalling an array of degenerative conditions. I am ever more appreciating this as I am in my late 50s and noticing the effects of age. 😉

When our bodies are aging and are chronically shortchanged of key minerals like sulfur and MSM, the bonds between our cells become increasingly rigid and brittle — a condition that can lead to a loss in skin flexibility and contribute to skin wrinkles. The internal manifestations of this cellular brittleness are far less visible but have a far greater negative impact on the body. MSM’s ability to reintroduce flexibility into cell structures, therefore, can have widespread restorative effects.

According to Dr. Ronald Lawrence, M.D., Ph.D., co-author of “The Miracle of MSM”, MSM works to restore flexibility to cell membranes and slow down the breakdown of cartilage.”

MSM is a natural sulfur that helps build the amino acids responsible for protein building and muscle formation. MSM has the ability to equalize water pressure inside of the cells. This is helpful to support healthy joints and tissues.

Chinese wolfberry, has been used in Asia since ancient times for its benefits against aging and for supporting healthy vision, kidney, and liver function. Wolfberry is higher in vitamin C than ascorbic acid, higher in beta carotene than carrots, and higher in amino acids than bee pollen. Wolfberry is very high in antioxidants.
